Gro means to sprout or grow in Scandinavian languages. While it’s often used for biological growth, it can also describe the development of ideas, relationships, or personal progress. Unlike material growth, gro emphasizes inner development and flourishing. This is the mindset we foster at GRO.

Gro is also a feminine name, most famously held by Gro Harlem Brundtland, former Prime Minister of Norway. She chaired the UN Brundtland Commission, which in 1987 introduced the first widely recognized definition of sustainable development. At GRO, we are inspired by bold actors and initiatives that show courage and commitment in driving transformative sustainable change.
